Employing Young Talent Incentive

Hiring and training a young person just got easier! Contact Employment Services Elgin to learn more about the NEW Employing Young Talent Incentive (EYTI).

How it works:

Employers will receive a maximum of $2,000 to hire and retain youth as follows:

For Employment Service (ES) assisted service youth clients matched with a small business (less than 100 employees):

$1,000 upon hiring followed by an additional $1,000 retention payment at 6 months in the job.

These payments are for employers who are not currently benefiting from an incentive through ES.

For the Youth Job Connection (YJC) program, a retention payment of $1,000 would be payable after 3 months with a further $1,000 payable after 6 months to incentivize small and large employers to retain youth following a placement or through a job match.

Eligibility And Suitability

    For Youth

  • years old at time of registration ‏15-29
  • A resident of Ontario
  • Unemployed
  • Eligible to work in Canada
  • Not participating in full-time traning or education

    For Employers

  • Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employment Standards Act, and all applicable
  • federal and provincial human rights legislation,regulations, and any other relevant standards
  • Maintain appropriate WSIB or alternative workplace safety insurance coverage
  • Have adequate third party general liability insurance, as advised by its insurance broker
  • Express an intention to hire the participant after the placement ends
  • Place trainees/employees on company payroll and provide the same employment terms, conditions and benifits as for all regular employees
  • Not be a federal, provincial or municipal government agency
  • Not be currently receiving other government funds for the same job placement
  • Not use a placement services to displace existing staff, or replace staff who have been laid-off
  • ‏( Not hire immediate family memebers (e.g. parents, spouse or child
