DZ Driver – Local
Description
Home everyday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
DZ Local Driver will be primarily required to safely operate company vehicles while transporting goods and materials for ILDS customers for pickup and delivery in Southern Ontario.
The Local Driver will be required to load and unload their truck daily as well assist with warehouse duties on occasion when work warrants
Operate straight trucks to transport goods and materials in a safe and timely manner
Comply with applicable legislation including carriage of goods, driver’s hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of goods, customs and immigration and weights and dimensions
Accurately record hours of service, distance traveled and fuel consumption
Check all cargo related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate
Perform pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of safe operation of the vehicle
Promptly report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage to the vehicles
Assist in loading and unloading trucks.
Communicate with manager as well as other employees both verbally and in writing
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
Able to lift up to 100 pounds
DZ license required (AZ license would be an asset)
Defensive Driving Course (Asset)
Current copy of Personal Abstract
Current Criminal Search
Must be able to work with little supervision and have self-direction
Must demonstrate strong oral and written communication abilities
Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform basic routine vehicle maintenance (Asset)
