Pearce Williams Summer Camp (PW) is looking for Kitchen Assistants to assist our Head Cook for all staff training and summer camp sessions July through August.

We currently have two (2) openings for this position.

Location:  Pearce Williams Summer Camp & Retreat Facility, Iona, Ontario (30 minutes southwest of London).

Camp will ask you to commit to the following training dates.  All training is paid.

  • A training week on Sunday, July 9 at 7:00 pm to Friday, July 14 at 5:00 pm
  • We then run 6 weeks of camp from July 16, 2023 to August 25, 2023.
  • You would live on site while you work at the camp from Sunday afternoons to Friday afternoons.
  • Note that you do not have to work all 6 weeks of camp – it depends on the number of campers who sign up and your own availability
  • Preference is given to people who attend all training and work all 6 weeks of camp
  • Compensation varies depending on experience
  • The positions include room and board during camp sessions

Qualifications

  • Kitchen Assistant responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, menu planning, food ordering, preparing food for up to 140 people, meeting the requirements of campers with dietary restrictions, working with other kitchen and camp staff, cleaning and ensuring that the camp kitchen follows health and safety guidelines.
  • All summer camp team members are responsible for providing our campers and staff with amazing camp experiences. Our summer program consists of seven weeklong sessions and pre-summer training events.  Those aged 16+ are eligible to apply, with preference given to post-secondary aged participants, with demonstratable leadership skills, strong organizational skills, a love of summer camp, problem solving skills, the ability to work with children and other staff, as well as the ability to perform all the job duties in a Christ like manner.  Pearce Williams campers’ range in age from 5 to 15. Staff are 16+.
  • The job description for all staff at Pearce Williams is to do what needs to be done to ensure that our summer campers have the most amazing summer camp experience.
  • Staff are required to have a Standard First Aid Certificate, a current criminal record check, and relevant experience.
