We are seeking a Salvage Operations Coordinator to work directly with the Director of Restores at Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario. The Habitat ReStore, a division of Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario, aims to generate revenue through the sale of donated and reclaimed building materials and household articles to support Habitat’s activities. The Salvage Operations Coordinator, in collaboration with the ReStore Director or a designated assistant, is responsible for facilitating salvage operations by performing pre-inspections, coordinating volunteers, and supervising projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all salvage projects for Heartland ReStores.
- Contact potential donors and assess prospective donations.
- Solicit materials and conduct pre-project inspections for salvage projects.
- Prepare the schedule for salvage volunteers.
- Supervise salvage staff and volunteers.
- Supervise the salvage process, including loading and transporting of salvage materials.
- Test, clean, price and distribute donated appliances.
- Provide safety, logistical, supervisory, and manual labor support for salvage operations performed by the ReStore Salvage Operations.
- Support Heartland ReStore communities’ outreach to establish an ongoing salvage operations arm. This includes contacting suppliers, installers, contractors, and building suppliers to solicit salvage opportunities.
- Assist with maintenance as required at any ReStore location as assigned by ReStore Operations.

Qualifications
Your Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years’ related experience required.
- Previous experience in the construction industry and at least 1 year of managing staff preferred.
- Experience working with and managing volunteers is an asset.
- Demonstrated professionalism and excellence in customer service.
- Competency in assessing the condition of donated goods.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Regularly required to lift 50 pounds with assistance.
- Frequent bending, squatting, lifting, and repetitive motion.
- Occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions (e.g., heat, cold, wind, rain).
- Must pass a background check.
- Valid driver’s license.
- OSHA/forklift training is a plus but not required.
- Minimum 25 years of age (for insurance purposes).
