Position Details:

Reporting to the Director of Finance/Treasurer the Customer Service Representative will provide a vital link between the corporation and the public. This successful candidate is expected to have a general knowledge of the policies and procedures of all services provided by Central Elgin. The Customer Service Representative will assist the corporation and the public by providing services such as answering and managing public inquiries for non-emergency information and/or services in-person or via telephone.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  1. Providing counter and telephone service, dealing with customers in respect to a wide range of needs quickly and efficiently.
  2. Performing all clerical procedures relating to the cash functions, including handling, processing data input and banking of payments received.
  3. Acting as a customer solutions and service provider, displaying extensive knowledge of all customer-related activities for the Municipality.
  4. Developing and maintaining good working relationships with the public, municipal employees, vendors and other government agencies.
  5. Receiving, assessing, responding/referring to, dispatching, and following up on customer inquiries regarding Central Elgin information, programs, special events, and requests for non-emergency Municipal services.
  6. Performing daily payment transactions, balancing funds for deposit and account adjustments and revenue report preparation.
  7. Respond to, refer or transfer, and record customer inquiries that cannot be resolved at first point of contact to appropriate Municipal department, employee or other government levels, agencies and external organizations
  8. Perform other similar and related duties as required and assigned.
