Registered Practical Nurse

Position Summary/Overview:

The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) will facilitate and provide care to patients during their clinical visit with a family physician, specialist or walk-in physician.

The RPN will function within the job description of a Registered Practical Nurse and in accordance with the College of Nurses Standards of Nursing Practice for Registered Practical Nurses.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs all medical tasks delegated by the attending physician.
  • Contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; Calls for assistance from health care support personnel, if required.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient records.
  • Take all patient vitals and history Maintain patient information electronically

Qualifications

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Current Registration Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Must demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of general medicine.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with health professionals and patients.
  • Must possess the ability to function effectively in a clinical setting.
  • Must be reliable, dependable and flexible.
  • Good attendance record.

 

License/Certification:

  • LPN/RPN required

Experience:

  • One-year experience with ACCURO EMR preferred.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, teamwork, initiative/self-management, accountability, flexibility and adaptability.
  • Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications and ability to research on the Internet.
  • Good leadership skills and interpersonal and communication skills, including written, to work within a diverse community and ability to deal empathetically with patients, family members, etc., to contribute to their well-being.
  • Ability to work effectively independently or as a part of a multidisciplinary health care team.
