Community Development Manager

Position Summary:
The Community Development Manager of St. Thomas-Elgin Local Immigration Partnership will build and foster community relationships. They will develop and provide the coordination and framework to facilitate the integration and settlement of newcomers to the County of Elgin and the City of St. Thomas. They will look at ways to improve the economic, social, and civic participation for all newcomers and work with community stakeholders to implement the initiatives. By providing awareness and education of the value newcomers bring to Elgin County, they will encourage and engage the community and human service providers in the settlement process. The position will be located at the YWCA St. Thomas-Elgin reporting to the Director of Education and Settlement and be advised and directed by the St. Thomas-Elgin Local Immigration Partnership Council.

Job Duties:
- Maintain and develop the STELIP Council
- Collaborate and develop strategic actions
- Develop and manage roles, responsibilities, and timelines to implement actions
- Revise the governance (TOR) as required
- Recruit membership to implement strategic actions
- Represent STELIP at community tables and advocate for immigrant and newcomer equitable service provision
- Identify systemic barriers and work to develop solutions
- Develop resources that address barriers
- Local tools and resources
- Community Surveys
- System guides
- Build connections for STELIP in the community (employers, service providers, government, community) to increase the reach and influence
- Attend networking opportunities
- Delegations/deputations to municipal councils
- Community presentations
- Plan and facilitate community events to promote diversity and improve systems
- Networking events
- Community celebrations
- Webinars
Working Conditions:
- Monday-Friday (business hours), In-person work environment
- Evenings/weekends may be required on occasion for group activities, YWCA, or community events, on occasion, time off in lieu of overtime
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.20-$30.20 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week

Schedule: 7-8 hours, days, Monday to Friday
Job Location: St. Thomas, ON N5P 2S3 (preferred), Ability to commute/relocate: St. Thomas N5P 2S3 with reliably commute before starting work (required)

Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications): Bachelor’s Degree required with Post-Secondary Education in Sociology, Political Science, or Demographics with a focus on International Studies or Migration.
Work Experience:
3+ years’ experience in a management role in a community-based not-for-profit environment including Community Engagement, Community Development, Equity and Diversity, Strategic Planning, Budgeting, Public Speaking, Writing Documents and Proposals, Funding Applications.
Knowledge/Skill/Ability:
Knowledge of the St Thomas-Elgin community, agencies, businesses, and resources.
Able to grow meaningful relationships with community leaders to raise the awareness of the skills and opportunities newcomers can bring to the community, develop outreach opportunities using an intersectional lens.
Understand the immigration processes and keeps current on changes and trends provincially and federally.
Problem solving and decision-making skills.
Able to collaborate with internal and external staff, partners, planning tables to build the capacity of the community to build our welcoming, caring, and inclusive directive.
Social media and marketing considered an asset.
Fluency in multiple languages is considered an asset.
