Steelhead Food Co. is a busy retail fish market as well as a processing and packing house for multiple species of fish!

We’ve been in business since 2015 and operate out of our processing facility in St. Thomas, ON.

We also have a second location in the heart of Port Stanley!  Steelhead Food Co. is adding to its busy retail team.  Prospective employees will be working in both retail market locations (St. Thomas and Port Stanley).

This position will start out as part-time position under a three-month probationary/training period with the potential to grow into a full-time role.

Seasonal work (summer only plus weekends/holidays during the school year) could also be available for high school/University students!

Job Description:

  • Providing excellent customer service with a bubbly and friendly personality
  • Correctly answering questions about our products
  • Keeping our fresh bunker/freezers/coolers looking tidy and fully stocked
  • Cutting off custom portions from fish fillets upon customer request
  • Skinning fillets of fish (salmon, pickerel, halibut) upon customer request
  • Cleaning the retail space daily
  • Following a daily checklist and completing all necessary tasks
  • Performing an “end of day” report and counting the till at the end of each day

Schedule: Prospective employees must be available to be on rotation for working Saturday and Sunday shifts and must be comfortable (post training) working alone if needed.

Wage: Hourly wages can range depending on whether prospective employees are students, part-time, or full-time.

Performance based wage increases begin at 3 months’ employment, and full coverage health benefits begin at 1 year’s employment for full-time staff.

Pay: From $18.50/hour

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Proficient in cash handling and basic math
  • Experience with retail sales and POS systems
  • Ability to manage time effectively and stay organized
  • Multilingual or bilingual skills are a plus
  • Familiarity with merchandising and product demonstrations is beneficial

Experience:

  • Sales: 1 year (required)
  • Customer service: 1 year (required)

License/Certification:

  • Food Handler Certification (preferred)
