The ideal candidate for this position is a graduate of either a Child & Youth Worker Program or Social Service Worker Program with a current vulnerable sector check and Standard First Aid Certificate.  The successful applicant is an energetic team player, working in cooperation with other Youth Centre staff to develop and deliver engaging programs for youth. The Youth Services Worker will contribute to Ignites growing array of youth engagement, health and wellbeing and educational initiatives.

Responsibilities Include:

• Co-lead the operation of the youth drop-in space, ensuring it is safe, welcoming, and engaging for all youth.
• Create, Organize, and facilitate programs promoting diverse aspects of wellness (physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being).
• Prepare food and engage youth in hands-on cooking/baking activities.
• Create a welcoming space where youth feel empowered, motivated, and confident.
• Encourage positive peer interactions and leadership development.
• Develop trusting and professional relationships with youth, offering guidance and encouragement.
• Actively listen and provide informal mentorship, fostering resilience and problem-solving skills.
• De-escalate and resolve conflicts between youth in a calm and supportive manner.
• Connect youth with appropriate community resources and make referrals as needed.
• Ensure policies and procedures are effectively implemented and followed.
• Provide excellent customer service via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
• Assist with program registration, attendance tracking, and data collection.
