The Position:

We are seeking a motivated, adaptable and compassionate Employment Specialist to join our team. In this role, the successful candidate will play a pivotal part in the job search and career development of individuals facing barriers to employment. The primary responsibilities include conducting client intake assessments, collaboratively developing employment action plans, and employing motivational interviewing techniques to identify and address clients’ unique employment needs.

Duties:

  1. Professional Communication:
  • Communicate professionally with clients, co-workers, and community partners through in-person meetings and various virtual tools.
  1. Client Interviews and Assessments:
  • Interview clients to gather employment history and educational background.
  • Conduct skills assessments and evaluations to determine interests, aptitudes, and abilities and motivation, reliability, and dependability.
  1. Employment Action Plans:
  • Assist clients with job searching including resume development and interview preparation.
  • Provide instruction on current job searching best practices, resources, and technology.
  1. Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain detailed records of client and employer interactions in WE Data and CaMS.
  • Prepare and maintain necessary documentation, case management
  • Effectively use MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other various computer platforms.
  1. Working Conditions:
  • Traveling to community partner sites, other offices, or employer locations.
  • Intermittent physical activity, including walking, standing, sitting, and lifting.
  1. Other:
  • Perform other duties as necessary and assigned.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Social Services, Human Resources, or in a relevant field
  • Career Development Practitioner Certification (preferred)
  • Proven experience in employment services, job development, or related roles (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
