Fish Hand Cutter (Multi Species)

Steelhead Food Co. is looking to add a full-time fish cutter to our growing team!
We are an up-and-coming family owned and operated processing house located in the industrial area of St. Thomas, ON.
Not only do our fish cutters specialize in a full line of local freshwater fish, they also cut into a variety of saltwater options! Our fish cutters can expect to work with local favorites such as yellow perch and pickerel along with popular ocean dwellers such as Atlantic salmon and halibut!
Our cutters work as a team on the production floor to provide the community and beyond with a full line of safe, sustainable and delicious fish!
Successful applicants will work in our processing area to hand cut a variety of fish. Additionally, training may be provided to new employees who express interest in processing fish using our full line of automated fish cutting machinery.
Job Duties to Include:
- Hand cutting multiple species of fish (Converting a whole fish into fillets, dressed fish, etc.)
- Operating automated cutting machinery
- Preparing fish products for freezing
- Maintaining a clean workstation throughout the day and participating in “end of day” cleaning procedures on the processing floor
Compensation:
- Employees will begin under a 3-month probationary period. Performance based wage increases will occur following that period.
- After six months employment, full coverage health benefits are offered at no cost to the employee.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: From $20.00/hour plus bonuses
Schedule:
- 8-hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

Qualifications
Expectations:
- Punctuality and a commitment to attendance
- Ability to work effectively as a team member
- Ability to remain standing and/or moving for long periods of time
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain worker and product safety through good manufacturing practices and safe operating practices
Requirements:
- Experience in filleting fish is not necessarily required for this position, although any sort of a background in hand cutting is considered an asset.
- Food processing experience 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Forklift Licence (preferred)
- WHMIS Certification (preferred)
