Position Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely completion of a variety of Human Resources, Payroll, and Finance functions with PakFab. This position will interact closely with other internal team members as well as suppliers, and customers. For this role, there will be time sensitive processes and documents as well as confidentiality requirements. This position reports to the Department Manager or their designate.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Human Resources

  • Maintaining accurate data input into the HRIS system
  • Assist with recruitment process and new hire documentation
  • Assist with maintaining all personnel files to ensure compliance
  • Ensures new employees receive necessary training
  • Responsible for all training records and files
  • Perform additional HR duties / projects as assigned

Payroll

  • Inputting bi-weekly hourly and salary payroll – Canada and US
  • Perform internal audit function of employee set-up
  • Respond to payroll questions & requests from employees
  • Interact with Managers regarding payroll data
  • Process new employee setup
  • Process garnishments, terminations & payouts
  • Entering approved changes to employee payroll records
  • Submit employee RSP deduction/remittances
  • Issue ROE in Ceridian and CRA
  • Tracking eligibility dates for employment benefits and assisting new hires in enrollment
  • Ensuring accuracy of monthly benefit statements and changes
  • Reconciling all source deductions and benefit clearing accounts
  • Calculating vacation entitlements for all staff
  • Preparing annual reconciliations and statutory reporting, including source deductions, T4/T4A, W-2
  • Calculating and requesting manual payroll cheques when required
  • Maintaining electronic and paper-based filing of payroll records
  • Other payroll related tasks / projects as assigned

Miscellaneous Activities

  • Provide support for yearend external audit process
  • Work in this role involves coverage of telephone reception and acting as back-up for various roles as required.
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Conditions

  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Clean office environment
  • Travel to off-site locations may be required
  • PPE will be required if entering the production area

Qualifications

  • Human Resources, Payroll and/or accounting post-secondary institution, certificate, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 1-2 years of payroll experience
  • Experience with Ceridian or other web-based payroll system, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) are considered an asset
  • Excellent communication skills – oral and written mediums
  • Due diligence in privacy & confidentiality

  • Preferably possess a valid driver’s license
