Job Overview:
As a Kennel Attendant at our dog boarding facility, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of the dogs entrusted to our care. Your responsibilities will include providing daily care, feeding, exercise, and monitoring the health and behavior of the dogs. Additionally, you will assist in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards within the facility.
- Part-time positions available
- Hours range between 7:30 am to 7:30 pm
- Monday to Sunday and Statutory Holidays
- Wage: $18.50/hour
- Casual dress
- Free on-site parking
- Career development is available to select individuals seeking to become dog groomers or dog trainers.
- Transportation required, located in a rural area not on a bus route.
Responsibilities – Animals:
- Provide food, water, and any necessary medications to dogs according to their specific dietary and medical requirements.
- Monitor the health and behavior of dogs, promptly reporting any concerns to supervisory staff.
- Ensure all dogs receive adequate exercise and socialization opportunities, adhering to established playtime and walking schedules.
- Administer basic grooming tasks such as brushing, bathing, and nail trimming as needed.
- Follow established protocols for handling and restraining dogs to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
Kennel Maintenance:
- Clean and disinfect kennel enclosures, feeding areas, and common spaces on a regular basis to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Replace bedding, toys, and other supplies as needed to ensure the comfort and well-being of the dogs.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate temperature, humidity, and ventilation levels within the kennel facility.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and trash removal to ensure a clean and organized environment.
Customer Service:
- Greet clients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner, providing assistance and information as needed.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners to obtain relevant information about their dogs’ needs, preferences, and medical history.
- Provide updates and report cards on the well-being and behavior of dogs to their owners upon request or at the end of their stay.
- Address client inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a timely and courteous manner, escalating issues to the supervisory staff when necessary.
Health and Safety:
- Follow established safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, and the spread of contagious diseases among dogs and staff.
- Properly handle and dispose of waste materials, including feces, urine, and soiled bedding, in accordance with health and sanitation regulations.
- Maintain clean and organized work environment, including storage areas for cleaning supplies, equipment, and food.
- Participate in regular training sessions on topics such as animal handling, first aid, and emergency response procedures.
Working Conditions:
- This position may require exposure to animal allergens, odors, and noises.
- Work environment may include indoor and outdoor areas with varying temperatures and weather conditions.
- Physical demands include lifting and carrying dogs, bending, kneeling, and repetitive tasks.

Qualifications
- Previous experience working with dogs in a professional or volunteer capacity preferred.

- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, coworkers, and visitors.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed in a 24/7 boarding facility.
- Reliable transportation required, located in rural area not on a bus route.
