Wage: $45,000 – $55,000/annually depending on experience

Position Summary/Overview:

The Maintenance Person is responsible for the overall maintenance, repair, safety, and upkeep of the residence. This includes preventative maintenance, vendor coordination, suite turnovers, compliance support, and responding to day-to-day maintenance needs throughout the building.

This role is ideal for someone who is organized, proactive, technically skilled, and enjoys working in a senior living environment

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the overall maintenance and upkeep of the residence
• Perform routine inspections of:
  • HVAC systems
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical systems
  • Boilers and mechanical equipment
• Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies
• Ensure the building remains compliant with:
  • Fire safety regulations
  • RHRA standards
  • Occupational Health & Safety requirements
• Conduct regular fire and safety checks
• Coordinate and supervise external vendors and contractors
• Oversee suite turnovers and room readiness
• Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment
• Ensure outdoor grounds and common areas are maintained appropriately
• Keep accurate maintenance logs and documentation
• Support inspections, audits, and compliance initiatives
• Work collaboratively with management and department teams

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Previous maintenance experience in:
  • Retirement homes
  • Long-term care
  • Healthcare facilities
  • Hotels or residential buildings preferred
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical systems
  • HVAC systems
  • General repairs and building maintenance
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues independently
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Experience managing contractors and service vendors
• Understanding of fire safety and building compliance requirements
• Ability to perform physical tasks and lift as required
• Valid driver’s license considered an asset
• WHMIS certification considered an asset
• On-call availability for emergencies may be required
