We are a well-established non-profit housing cooperative—a unique living community where
residents are members who collectively own and manage the property. We are committed to
maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-cared-for environment for our members.
We are currently seeking a reliable, motivated, and proactive Handy Person to help maintain
the day-to-day operations and upkeep of our residential property. The right candidate will be
hardworking, detail-oriented, and have a strong sense of responsibility and pride in maintaining a
community-focused living space.
Position Summary:
As the Handy Person, you will be responsible for general interior and exterior maintenance,
routine inspections, unit turnovers, and seasonal upkeep. You’ll work closely with our office
administrator, senior property manager, and occasionally with contractors to ensure the property
remains in excellent condition.
Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Perform daily inspections and report concerns to the Board of Directors.
General maintenance and repairs (painting, drywall, minor plumbing/electrical, etc.).
Groundskeeping: mowing, trimming, weeding, fertilizing.
Snow removal and salting in winter months.
Cleaning and upkeep of common areas and units.
Handle unit turnovers including cleaning and minor repairs.
Maintain an organized inventory of tools and supplies.
Track and complete work orders in a timely manner.
Assist in coordinating with third-party contractors when necessary.
Communicate regularly with staff and tenants in a professional and respectful manner.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times.
Respect and uphold tenant confidentiality.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior experience in custodial or maintenance roles preferred.
Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and repair techniques.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor.
Strong multitasking and time management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle preferred (mileage reimbursed).
