Raw for Pets Canada is a family-run pet health and wellness company specializing in ancestral raw diets, functional nutrition, and holistic pet care. With over 15 years in operation, we are committed to education, innovation, and advancing species-appropriate nutrition for pets across Canada.

We are currently developing a Pet Nutritionist Apprenticeship Program and are seeking a motivated youth participant to support the development of course and curriculum materials through the YESS Youth Employment Program.

Position Overview:

The Pet Nutrition Apprenticeship Content Developer will assist in creating and organizing educational materials for our upcoming apprenticeship program. This role is designed for a recent post-secondary graduate who is passionate about animal health, nutrition, and education, and who meets the eligibility requirements of the YESS program.

You will work closely with our Clinical Holistic Pet Nutritionist & Master Herbalist and leadership team to research, structure, and document course content. This is an educational development role, not a clinical position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in developing course outlines, modules, and lesson plans for the Pet Nutrition Apprenticeship
• Conduct research on animal nutrition topics and summarize findings into structured educational content
• Translate scientific and technical information into clear, accessible learning materials
• Organize curriculum content, learning objectives, and reference materials
• Assist with quizzes, assessments, and apprentice learning tools
• Support documentation related to program standards and best practices
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to refine and validate content
• Revise and update materials based on feedback

Required Education:

• Post-secondary graduate from one of the following (or a related field):
  • Animal Science
  • Animal Health or Veterinary Technology
  • Nutrition or Food Science
  • Biology, Life Sciences, or Health Sciences
  • Veterinary Assistant programs with nutrition coursework

Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong research and academic or technical writing skills
• Ability to organize information into clear, structured formats
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Comfortable working with scientific and evidence-based information
• Strong interest in pet nutrition, raw feeding, and holistic wellness
• Ability to work collaboratively with experienced professionals
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or similar tools

Assets (Nice to Have):

• Experience with curriculum development or instructional design
• Familiarity with raw feeding, ancestral diets, or holistic pet care
• Experience creating educational or training materials
• Passion for animal health and wellness industries

YESS Program Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must meet all YESS program criteria, including:

• Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
• A post-secondary graduate
• A Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or a person granted refugee status in Canada
  • (Work permits and student visas are not permitted)
• Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulations
• A first-time participant in a YESS-funded work experience program
• Available to commit to a 6-12 month employment term
