The Role:

The Server is responsible for providing exemplary service to all our guests. Working closely with the entire Front of House (FOH) team to ensure excellent and efficient service. Passionate about learning and sharing your extensive knowledge about all our SKYE CHASE wines and which foods they best pair with is a must. Servers are ambassadors of SKYE CHASE Estate Winery and must ensure that each guest has a memorable experience.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide exemplary table service to all our guests.
  • Confidently provide in-depth knowledge of our wine products and the current food offerings.
  • Be passionate about learning and sharing information about our wine, the wine making process and suggested food pairings.
  • Be knowledgeable about the various wine tasting experiences, events and Wine Club membership available at the winery.
  • Competently complete regular maintenance duties including cleaning, polishing tasks, table maintenance and general cleanliness and organization of the restaurant.
  • Ensure you are familiar with the background of all VIP Parties, Private Group Tours and the expectations of these bookings prior to their arrival.
  • Drive sales by cross-selling retail wine bottle sales, Wine Club memberships and other winery offerings.
  • Process transactions efficiently and accurately.

Other Duties as Assigned:

  • Take on additional appropriate tasks as required to support overall winery operations.

Working Conditions:

  • You must be able to work flexible hours as the hours of work will fluctuate with business volumes including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • You may be required to move, lift, carry, pull and place objects weighing up to 12kg.
  • Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of times, navigating stairs.

Qualifications

  • Comfort when in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to multi-task while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education and of legal age to serve alcohol.
  • Previous experience in casual fine dining environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fine food, wine and service.
  • Experience in fast paced, fluid environment, where every day is different and can adapt to last minute changes.
  • Smart Serve Certified (will be required to start in the role).
  • Food Handlers Certification (will be required once in the role).
  • Passion to consistently be learning about wine, wine making process and food pairing.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Previous experience with Open Table, POS Simplicity and Moneris would be considered an asset.
  • Exceptionally strong verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy.
