About the Position:
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and youth? This is a unique opportunity to be part of a collaborative summer experience, supporting both traditional and innovative pilot learning programs for young people living in marginalized neighborhoods across St. Thomas-Elgin. You must be a student attending a post secondary program in the fall.

As a Summer Program Facilitator, you will help design, coordinate, and deliver a variety of summer group programs that support skill-building, engagement, and fun. You’ll gain valuable experience in youth work, program development, and community collaboration—perfect for students pursuing careers in education, social work, child and youth care, or community development.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Planning:  Develop detailed, age-appropriate plans for summer group activities, including goals, daily schedules, and materials required.

Logistical Coordination:  Coordinate venues, transportation, supplies, and other logistical needs for all scheduled programs.

Facilitation:  Lead and co-lead engaging group sessions for children and youth, fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment. Work closely with fellow staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure the smooth delivery of programming. Participate in pilot initiatives that test new learning models and experiential activities aimed at helping youth discover new skills, interests, and potential. Build positive relationships with participants, providing guidance, encouragement, and respectful behavior modeling.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and lead sports, games, and active play activities in a group setting.
  • Current First Aid/CPR and a Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • Access to reliable transportation is an asset but not required.
