Hours: 4 hr shifts
Schedule: Weekends, Evenings, Holidays
Term: Full Time – Temporary Up to Six Months duration

Job Description:

• Assisting with ice maintenance, record keeping, general building repair, special event set up and take down, and custodial duties.
• Responsible for assisting to ensure that all facilities and equipment are safe, ready for use, as well as efficiently and effectively operated for the convenience and enjoyment of patrons and the public.
• Aids in day-to-day maintenance

• Experience in the use of hand and power tools and/or previous experience working in an arena/recreation facility.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Ability to deal with internal and external contacts in a courteous and efficient manner.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Must have the physical capability to carry out the essential duties of the position. Must be able to perform physically repetitive work (ie. lifting, bending, climbing ladders, pushing and pulling with moderate exertion.).
• Flexibility is a must, as shift assignments may change depending on facility demands and staff availability (shifts to be scheduled between 6am and midnight; shift lengths vary from 4 hours to 8 hours).
• Knowledge of facility operations.
• Ability to operate commercial vehicles, small power tools, radio communications equipment and other specialized seasonal maintenance equipment.
• Must be computer literate including knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to exchange information, receive and understand instructions.
• Ability to provide general information to facility patrons and the public and assist them with their concerns and complaints when possible.
• Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
• Must possess a valid “G” Ontario Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation.
• Ontario Driver’s Abstract required
