As a key part of a dynamic team of professionals, you will perform essential warehouse duties and related operations on a full-time basis (40 hours/week, Saturdays and evenings may be required).

Working alongside our Warehouse Manager, you will conduct and hone essential warehouse duties during a period of growth and expansion for the business. Representing the business in a polite and professional manner, you will work with delivery personnel, installers, and customers as you receive and organize materials as well as conduct deliveries and pick-ups. You will gain essential knowledge of flooring and installation products, general home and flooring maintenance, and you will also learn more about the new home construction process through our builder division. You will have the opportunity to build relationships with your fellow employees, customers, installers, and our local community.

The ideal applicant will be a motivated self-starter with the proven ability to work independently and as part of a talented team of colleagues in a busy and, at times, demanding work environment. This individual will be responsible for the overall organization and maintenance of the warehouse area, preparing materials for installation and/or delivery in a timely and organized fashion, and other tasks and duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will have experience in a warehouse environment; they will be able to operate warehouse forklifts and vehicles as well as be able to lift and work with heavy objects. Job Responsibilities:

• Organizing and storing materials for both Elgin Carpet One & the Wallpaper Loft (shared warehouse); maintaining a clean and safe warehouse for all staff members.
• Operating and maintaining warehouse vehicles and equipment; conducting regular health and safety checks as required.
• Preparing materials for installations and cash sales, including cutting carpet and vinyl, painting trims, and assembling and arranging skids of products for installers and/or customer pick-up or delivery.
• Arranging for and performing order pick-ups and deliveries as required.
• Placing and calling in stock and other orders as required.
• Receiving orders into the physical warehouse; packing and arranging for product returns as required.
• Assisting with stocking and shelving paint for the Wallpaper Loft (as needed)
• Reporting any discrepancies, deficiencies, or damaged shipments immediately to the Warehouse Manager.
• Receiving orders in a timely and precise manner using store software and procedures.
• Conducting regular inventory counts to maintain job materials and stock accuracy.
• Contributing ideas on ways to improve or optimize warehouse procedures.
• Completing regular and occasional building maintenance and cleaning (i.e. mowing/weeding in summer, shoveling/salting in winter, cleaning up garbage, bathrooms, etc.).
• Other duties and tasks as assigned.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills (English-speaking required).
• Excellent customer service skills and professionalism.
• Highly motivated, adaptable, with ability to multitask and problem-solve.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects such as 5-gallon pails of paint and heavy boxes of fragile ceramics (50+ lbs) as well as ability to cut carpet and vinyl as well as lift rolls.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Moderate computer skills; ability to use in-store software.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook; Gmail, Google Drive, including Sheets and Calendar; and ability to learn new software programs is essential.
• Ability to commute/relocate to St. Thomas, ON N5P 1G3 preferably before starting work.
• Valid Forklift Operator’s License required (training provided); ability to operate other warehouse equipment and large delivery vehicle.
