Description
The Ignite Youth Centre is a drop-in centre in St Thomas for all youth between the ages of 10 and 19 in Elgin County and the surrounding areas. We pride ourselves in being a fun, free, safe, supportive space for all youth. We provide age-appropriate programs and activities in a wide array of areas. Ignite strives to provide an environment and opportunities that will spark and support youth’s passion to learn, grow, be creative, be themselves, and ask questions.
- Wage – $20.00/hour
- Hours – 20 hours/week
- Days and times vary based on program need

Responsibilities Include:
- Actively and continuously seek out avenues to create and facilitate engaging and relevant opportunities for all youth in St. Thomas & Elgin County
- Creates an environment of empowerment, self-confidence, and motivation
- Organizes, schedules, implements, and markets program materials and resources
- Attends and participates in related community events and initiatives
- Assists in developing and implementing engaging and targeted social media strategies
- Communicates effectively and professionally with all Ignite stakeholders
- Provides high quality customer service in person, phone, and email communications
- Assists with registration and confirmation process of program participants
- Maintains client files, gathers statistics, and prepares program attendance and evaluations
- Possesses knowledge of community resources, makes appropriate referrals
- Ensures policies and procedures are implemented and followed
- Deflects or resolves conflict between youth
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position is a graduate of either a Child & Youth Worker Program or Social Service Worker Program with a current vulnerable sector check and Standard First Aid Certificate.
The successful applicant is an energetic team player, working in cooperation with other Youth Centre staff to develop and deliver engaging programs for youth.
The Youth Services Worker will contribute to Ignites growing array of youth engagement, health and wellbeing and educational initiatives.
