Employment Ontario's Youth Job Connection (YJC) program offers paid pre-employment training and job placement to youth across Ontario. Our role at Employment Services Elgin is to help local youth find and retain suitable jobs through a combination of pre-employment training, mentorship, and job placement.

Eligibility and Sustainability
For Employers
Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employment Standards Act, and all applicable federal and provincial human rights legislation,regulations, and any other relevant standards.
Maintain appropriate WSIB or alternative workplace safety insurance coverage.
Have adequate third party general liability insurance, as advised by its insurance broker.
Express an intention to hire the participant after the placement ends.
Place trainees/employees on company payroll and provide the same employment terms, conditions, and benefits as for all regular employees.
Not be a federal, provincial, or municipal government agency
Not be currently receiving other government funds for the same job placement.
Not use a placement service to displace existing staff or replace staff who have been laid-off.

Youth Job Connection - Summer
If you are between the ages of 15 and 18, are experiencing multiple or complex barriers to employment, and are looking for summer or part-time employment while in school, you can benefit from this intensive youth employment program. This program allows you to earn money while attending pre-employment training and offers up to 8 weeks (throughout the summer) and up to 10 hours per week through the school year of on-the-job training to assist you in transitioning from school to employment.
Eligibility and Suitability
Between 15 and 18 years of age.
Seeking employment.
Experiencing multiple or complex barriers.
A resident of Ontario.
